First off, You are "Welcome to the Caribbean, love." You're more than a little world-weary, but also intelligent and you keep your head when things get dodgy. You're everybody's favorite drinking buddy, but your stubbornness does get in the way sometimes. Which one of Captain Jack Sparrow's bizarre sayings from Pirates of the Caribbean are you? brought to you by Quizilla Best quiz ever. Though i found by changing just one answer i got the rum one. Seriously though, best quiz ever. Anyway, things here have been good. Moving in went a lot better than moving out did. Had some help here to get me set up, and the place looks great. I was thinking that none of my furniture and such would match, but suprisingly it does. I got my badass tv by the computer so i can hook up downloaded movies to the tv. My parents helped move me in on friday, and stayed till sunday morning to help me set up and everything. Mom bought me like 350 bucks worth of food and supplies at walmart. I really think that i have everything here ill ever need, my mom is crazy like that. Already kind of lonely, things are really quiet here. Did get another stroke of luck though in that the cable guy was able to come saturday morning and get my cable modem and cable tv set up with a real good deal. Did have a BATTLE with the phone again. Kept trying to call the place and set stuff up and online but one problem after another kept me from my goal, so today i went in and said i want blah blah blah blah blah in person and they set me up. Which reminds me, new contact information: 339 Augusta Avenue Apt E DeKalb, IL 60115 (815) 787-6466 (phone wont be working till the 15th) Email: CapnDaniels@hotmail.com Screen Name: CapnDaniels Orientation has been going good, just tiring. Its 9 am to 4 pm everyday. Its been really interesting though, basically so far theyve been teaching us to do breifs, which are the bread and butter of law school. Ive had about two hours of homework every night till tonight, but tonight i only have one breif to do. Lots of speeches on the joys of law school. They havnt been trying to scare us, but they have been hammering in how much work we're gonna have to do and how crazy our professors are gonna go after us. Theyve also been pumping us up though, telling us how many people they rejected (1400!) and bascially making us feel smart, but then they knock out the pedestal saying stuff like 'it doesnt matter how smart you are, some people just cant be lawyers, its not in them'. I refuse to be intimidated! Other scary thing is the fact that of five classes, four them only have one grade. Basically everything i learn is prepping me for my exam at the end of the semester. Nothing to turn in, no feedback, nothing. So thats gonna be stressful. Have met some people though, so thats pretty cool. Guy below me is a 1L (first year law student) as well, and hes cool, and i met a guy named john that ive been hanging around with for the most part. Couple other random people that i can talk to so far. Some people just been pissing me off trying to impress all the professors. Met one of my professors in my mock class, Professor Kuo, shes very cool. A diminuitive korean lady thats damn cute and filled with energy, so i have at least one cool teacher. The Dean seems really REALLY mean but is constantly cracking jokes that nobody catches for about a full minute till hes said them. He was also in charge my ethics discussion today, whcih was amusing because there was a wasp that resembled an elephant with wings scaring the hell out of everyone the whole discussion. Ive realized that i need to meet a girl, a girl that can cook, and soon. I am a kitchen disaster. Sunday night i attempted to make italian sausage. Boil em and then fry em on the george foreman grill. I was boiling away, when they kind of exploded and greasy water went EVERYWHERE. The ones that survived will delicious hours later though. Tonight i decided to make some grilled cheese, simple right? Well, let me ask you another question, do you know how much smoke you can make with grilled cheese? A WHOLE HELL OF A LOT. I dont know what i did but im still sitting in smog, fans blowing, etc. Im just not supposed to cook. I guess im doing pretty good here then, food aside, hope everyone is doing well. I miss everyone and cant wait to go camping. Id keep typing (since i know i havnt updated in days) but my pot pie is done. Well, lets hope its done. This real world stuff is a barrel of fun, isnt it? Makes my ship look more and more appealing... Three years left.
